Accessibility statement
MeliePants is the studio of Amelia Swanney, and accessibility is treated as part of the craft, not an afterthought. This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and access is considered throughout design and build rather than bolted on at the end.
Measures I take
Semantic, well-structured HTML with a single main heading per page and a logical heading hierarchy, so screen readers and assistive technology can navigate the content meaningfully.
Full keyboard navigation with visible focus states, a skip-to-content link, and accessible names on icon-only and interactive controls.
Colour and contrast are checked against the WCAG AA thresholds, and information is never conveyed by colour alone.
Every animation respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting: if you ask your system to reduce motion, decorative movement is suppressed and nothing essential is communicated through animation alone.
Known limitations
This is an evolving, independently built site, so the occasional issue can slip through. Content served from the underlying content platform, or any future third-party embed, may not always meet the same standard as the rest of the site.
If something blocks you, please tell me — I will prioritise a fix and offer an alternative way to get the information or complete the task in the meantime.
Feedback and contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, email info@meliepants.co.uk or use the contact page. Including the page URL, your browser or assistive technology, and a short description of what went wrong helps me reproduce and fix it quickly.
I treat accessibility reports as a high priority and aim to acknowledge them promptly.
